3 basic components of an IELTS Essay (Task 2) Introduction

Supriya C.

Below are the three main components for writing an impressive introduction.
1) Directly paraphrase the question
Now you have to understand, examiners check 80-100 essays a day and for them reading a background statement is ultimately a waste of time. Directly paraphrase the question and start your introduction with that.
2) Provide your opinion if asked.
Sometimes students tend to leave their opinion for the last. Why?. Throughout the essay, the examiner will wonder where precisely the treasured and coveted opinion is hidden. Let's not give the examiner hard time and write an opinion in the introduction itself (only if asked)
3) Outline your main ideas.
Always provide the thesis statement with your main ideas so that the examiner knows what to expect in the body paragraphs.
